Fashion Fever at BFW
The much touted Blenders Pride Fashion Week 2010 started on a spiritual note with Bangalore based Designer Amita Sharma’s collection “Colours of Buddhism”. Her designs displayed the Indian culture with ting of western styling in natural soft silks and hand wool blend embroideries in hues like black, brown, golden harvest, blues and maroon. It was a perfect blend of Indo-Western wear. Om, Ganesha and Hare Rama motifs in foil prints and rudraksh as accessories were the highlights of her collection. Other designers who displayed their collections on Day 1 were Vipin Batra from Rajasthan, Arshi Jamal from Lucknow, Niftian Ishita Singh, Swapnil Shinde from Mumbai and Chennai based designer Rehane. Swapnil Shinde’s collection took everyone’s breath away with show stopper Mugdha Godse sashaying down the runway in his beautiful creation. Mugdha Godse said “I love his creation, in

fact we have worked before and he knows my fit and size so well. He is a creative genius”. The dusky beauty with poise and elegance stole the show on Day 1.
Second Day showcased Anitha Vedivel collection Hide and Seek along with Priya Singh’s collection “Eklaya” for the autumn winter season with colour palette comprising of brown and few accent colours such as red and green. Bangalore based designer Lakshmi Jagmohan creations “Colours- Spice of Life” was a hit with audience. It was a mix of haute couture and pret and for the women of today. We could discover a lot of detailing in cuts and embroideries. The dresses and sarees were very stylish and elegant in various colours like red, blue, green, pink, black, yellow and green. Mumbai based designer Preeti Chander collection “Butterfly fly away” was talk of the evening with showstopper Miss India2009, Pooja Chopra walking down the runway for her. “It feels good to wear her design; they are so

fashionable, elegant and comfortable. It’s my first Bangalore fashion week and I love it,” said the bold and beautiful Pooja. Other designers who showcased their collection were Sharad Raghavand Abdul Halder from Mumbai. Sharad’s collection “Krishna” was men’s formal evening wear and bridal wear inspired by Lord Krishna.
Models Rachel, Pallavi and Archana Akil were looking pretty and chilled after the show. “It was fun, we believe second edition of BFW is really rocking” models said. According to ace fashion choreographer Achala Sachdev “The shows are on time and it is very systematic. Models and designers have really worked hard to make it a big success”. City top fashion choreographer Rahul Dev agreed with Sachdev and said “This time the fashion week is must smooth and organized. We have learned from our mistake last year and all the designers are getting good response from the buyers too.”
