A dream comes true


They grant wishes to create hope and happiness for children living with life threatening illness. Established in 1996, Make A Wish Foundation of India has granted in excess of 15000 wishes.

The Bangalore Division, Make-A-Wish Foundation of India has been successful in creating special moments for children living with life threatening illness in Karnataka. Here is one of those special moments.

I wish to fly

A young boy with twinkle in his eyes and a dream to fly, he fights like a warrior everyday. Meet Goutham, a 7 year old boy living with a life threatening illness. When the volunteers of Make-A-Wish interacted with Goutham, they came to know that he wished to fly. The first flying wish of Bangalore was granted on the 6 th of December 2009. Goutham’s wish was fulfilled by the pilots of Jupiter Aviation. He was up in the air in the microlite aircraft as high as 70 feet above the ground for about half an hour.

When Goutham was asked about his experience in the air, he said “I enjoyed flying. I was very excited when the pilot handed over the controls to me. I just can’t believe it, it was my dream to fly”. After a short pause he added “I will ask my father to buy a plane and not a car or a bike when I will grow up.

By granting a cherished wish for a child with a life threatening illness, it brings hope, strength and joy. It can help the children forget about being sick.
